Fauna that can be seen in cocoa plantations

Within the cocoa plantations, due to the adjacent forests, it is likely to encounter several animal species. Some examples are the giant anteater, armadillos, cuchuchos, sloths, guantas, ocelots and hummingbirds. There are also records of endangered species, such as the howler monkey (Alouatta palliata), a primate that feeds on leaves and fruits from wild trees and bushes.

These animals depend on the adjacent forests and jungles for food and shelter. For this reason, it is important that cocoa producers implement sustainable and responsible practices on their farms, minimizing environmental impact and ensuring the protection and conservation of the wildlife’s natural habitat.
