The International Organization of Cocoa Producers and the French Academy of Master Chocolatiers and Confectioners, agreed to celebrate July 7 as World Cocoa and Chocolate Day, in commemoration of the introduction of cocoa in Europe; although for the countries of America and cocoa producers, September 13 is when the International Chocolate Day is celebrated.
Any date is reasonable to celebrate the fruit of the cocoa plant, an essential component for the elaboration of chocolate and that benefits health with its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, providing minerals to the body such as copper, magnesium, iron and potassium contributing to good cardiovascular health; and because it is a valuable product in the trade of soft commodities and an important part of the economy of Ecuador.
